Cost guide
What a bathroom renovation costs in Hamilton and the Waikato
Most full bathroom renovations in the Waikato sit between $18,000 and $42,000, depending on size, spec and whether the layout moves. This guide breaks down where that money goes, so you can see roughly where your own bathroom is likely to land before you book a measure.

What actually drives the price
The biggest single factor is whether you are refreshing the room as it stands or moving the layout. Keeping the shower, toilet and vanity where they are is far cheaper than relocating them, because moving fixtures means new drainage and plumbing runs, and usually a building consent as well.
After that, the price is driven by the spec of what goes back in: the tiles, the tapware, the vanity, the glass and the finishing. These are where a bathroom can quietly climb from mid-range to premium, and where a good renovator will talk you through the trade-offs rather than just quoting the dearest option.
Cost by scope
We package our work into three tiers so the price is clear from the start. These are fixed prices agreed in writing, not estimates.
The Refresh
from $18,000
Same layout, lifted finish. New tiling, waterproofing, vanity, toilet and tapware in the existing footprint. The best value if the room works and just looks tired.
The Renovation
from $28,000
A fuller rebuild where the layout can change, a walk-in shower goes in, and the spec steps up. This is where most Waikato family bathrooms land.
The Premium
from $42,000
Larger rooms, higher-end fixtures and finishes, feature tiling and the details that make a bathroom feel like a hotel. Every trade still managed by one team.

Cost by size
A small ensuite of three to five square metres is usually the lower end of a full renovation, because there is less tiling and fewer fixtures. But it is rarely as cheap as people expect, since the fixed costs of waterproofing, plumbing and electrical are much the same as a larger room.
A main family bathroom of six to ten square metres sits in the middle of the range, and a large bathroom with premium features sits at the top. Two-bathroom jobs done together can work out better per room, because the trades are already on site.
Why a fixed price beats a cheap quote
The lowest quote is not always the cheapest job. The most common way a bathroom price climbs is a provisional sum, a placeholder figure for work that was never fully priced, which then moves once the job is underway. It reads like a fixed quote at signing and stops being one halfway through.
We quote a fixed price agreed in writing before anyone picks up a tool. If we find something genuinely unforeseeable behind the wall, we tell you before we touch it, with a cost, and you decide. That is the whole point of how we work.
FAQs
Cost questions, answered straight
Most full bathroom renovations in Hamilton and the wider Waikato land somewhere between $18,000 and $42,000 at the time of writing, depending on the size of the room, the spec of the fixtures and whether the layout is moving.
